About Fred Dodge

Fred was born at St. John’s in 1960 and moved from English Harbour East to Grand Bank at the age of 1, where he grew up and went to school.

After graduating From John Burke High in 1977, Fred went into radio. In September of 1983, he made the move from CKYQ Grand Bank to CHCM Marystown and for the next 23 years, hosted the number 1 rated morning show in Southern Newfoundland.

Fred joined the Public Service in 2006 as a Park Ranger at Frenchman’s Cove Provincial Park, where he is still employed. In 2010, Fred was chosen as part of a project team to do a complete rewriting of the Policy and Procedures Manual for Newfoundland Labrador Parks Division.

Fred also owns and operates a Voiceover business, voicing radio and TV commercials as well as training material for clients worldwide.

He is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves, serving with the 5 th Canadian Rangers Patrol Group.

As a volunteer, Fred has served in various positions with the Burin Peninsula Community Business Development Corporation including Board chair, Vice Chair and Secretary-Treasurer. He has also served on the board of directors for the Burin Peninsula Healthcare Foundation as well as acting as Emcee for countless dinners and other events around the Peninsula.

Fred joined the Fire Service in February 1998 with the Garnish Volunteer Fire Department and has been Fire Chief for the past 20 years.

In 1984, Fred married Susan Marsh of Garnish; they have one daughter Heidi. Fred and Susan enjoy
traveling and spending time at their cabin.
