UCP Leader Jason Kenney will be in attendance along with the newly elected leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador, Ches Crosbie.  Refreshments will be served.
Ches Crosbie is the son of former Federal Cabinet Minister John (and Jane) Crosbie and member of the House of Assembly for Windsor Lake. Prior to entering politics, Ches was an active litigation lawyer with a distinguished academic history, including being recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship. After a byelection victory in a traditionally Liberal seat against a strong Liberal contender who had full government backing, Ches became Leader of the Opposition in September. A Progressive Conservative in the socially progressive, fiscally responsible tradition, Ches is committed to his trademark honesty in politics, and to bold solutions and dramatic action to preserve Newfoundland and Labrador’s fiscal sovereignty. Ches knows that as a small, resource-based province, Newfoundland and Labrador must develop alliances with leaders within the provincial and federal conservative movement like Alberta’s Jason Kenny to achieve the promise of Confederation.
There is a conservative movement sweeping across Canada…Ontario, New Brunswick, Quebec, and soon, Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador. Common to each of these jurisdictions is a commitment to lower taxes, smaller government, responsible and transparent regulation and support for the national infrastructure that encourages development of our country’s wealth. It is the development of Canada’s assets that provides the means to fund the services we need. Health and child care, education, hospitals, affordable housing and a host of other necessities cannot be funded with apologies, stifling regulations, carbon taxes and a preoccupation with virtue signaling. We need leadership which understands our priorities and brings a sense of proportion and urgency to critical decisions.
The political environment we need is achieved when we all work together, when people of a common mind support each other in executing a common agenda. A prosperous Newfoundland and Labrador is good for Alberta and good for Canada. That is why Jason Kenney is supporting Ches Crosbie’s bid to be the next premier.
