(January 19, 2021) – PC Leader Ches Crosbie today announced plans to unlock the job growth potential in Newfoundland and Labrador’s tax policy.
“Lower taxes on job creators will enable our private sector to get Newfoundlanders and Labradorians back to work,” said Crosbie. “A tax structure that encourages businesses to hire means more jobs for our people. It’s as simple as that. It’s all part of our comprehensive plan to Bring Back Jobs.”
Specifically, Crosbie says a PC government would:
• Enact a Hiring Tax Credit to allow businesses to hire more people. A PC Government will invest a portion of the income tax paid by new hires back into the business who has hired them.
• Reduce Payroll Tax on full-time employees over time to encourage business owners to hire more and focus on full-time employment over precarious, part-time work.
• Provide a Relocation Tax Credit that would make it easier for local businesses to attract talent from across the country and around the world.
“The last time the Liberal government faced an economic crisis, they responded by slashing jobs and raising taxes. This time, the Liberals won’t even tell us what they’re planning,” said Crosbie.
“It’s time for a no-nonsense plan to Bring Back Jobs, not more political games from the Liberals!”
Crosbie says he will continue to outline more job-creating policy proposals in the days and weeks to come.
