(January 21, 2021) – PC Leader Ches Crosbie says Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have had enough of five years of Liberal Corruption. Crosbie says a government led by him will introduce the strongest anti-corruption legislation in Canada.
Crosbie says Liberal corruption has become a barrier to jobs and growth in our province.
“While the people of the province have to do with less in a dismal economy, the Liberals have been making sure their friends and insiders have more,” said Crosbie.
“The last five years have been tough for a lot of people in Newfoundland and Labrador, but they haven’t been tough for the Liberals and their friends. The days of there being two sets of rules are coming to an end.”
Crosbie says a PC government will:
• Bring in the strongest anti-corruption legislation in Canada;
• Take an all-party approach to tackling campaign finance disclosure, fixed election dates, party leadership campaign and donor disclosure rules, recall of members, Honesty in Politics legislation, and Access to Information legislation, among other priorities;
• Require the disclosure of shareholders in numbered companies doing business with government to prevent Liberal insiders from hiding as they rake in cash;
• Introduce cultural sensitivity training for the entire public service;
• Explore all options to increase diversity in the legislature, increasing representation by women, BIPOC, the Indigenous population, the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and the neurodiverse community.
“I have dedicated my professional life to standing up for those pressed under the thumb of greedy bureaucrats and corporations, ensuring fair and equal treatment for all. That ideal will only strengthen when I’m sitting in the Premier’s Office – government corruption will end under my watch. Period,” said Crosbie.
“The days of Liberal corruption will end under a new PC government.”
