PC Government will give seniors the dignity they deserve
PC Leader Ches Crosbie says years of cuts to care for senior citizens will be undone under a PC government.

(February 2, 2021) – PC Leader Ches Crosbie says years of cuts to care for senior citizens will be undone under a PC government.

From cuts to dental care to less access to personal care homes, the quality of life of our senior citizens has not improved under the Liberal government and that changes under a PC government.

“A PC Government will be committed to ensuring that the seniors of our province are cared for with dignity and respect and that their right to choose their care in their senior years is adhered to,” said Crosbie.

A PC government will:

• Reverse the decision to restrict seniors’ access to personal care homes and ensure physical and mental health is considered when assessing applications;

• Reverse Liberal cuts to adult dental coverage for seniors and low-income adults

• Ensure seniors can stay in their own home for as long as they possible, while providing home and community supports;

• Conduct a full review of long-term care homes in the province to inform a 10-year long-term care plan for the province;

• Conduct a staffing level review of all nursing homes to ensure an appropriate number of services for residents;

• Develop a community residential hospice/end of life care model;

• Finally open the Lionel Kelland Hospice in Grand Falls-Windsor;

• Build a new long-term care centre for the Stephenville-Port au Port/Bay St. George region

“In 2016, the Liberal government reduced access to dental care for low-income adults. A PC Government will right this wrong by increasing the availability of dental coverage for seniors and other low-income adults,” said Jim Lester, PC Candidate for Mount Pearl North.
