(February 8, 2021) – Jim Lester, PC Candidate for Mount Pearl North, says special ballot voting must be reopened as soon as possible to prevent people from missing their chance to cast their ballot in Saturday’s
provincial election.
“I’m already receiving calls from voters that they feel unsafe in casting their ballot given the confirmed cases of community spread on the Northeast Avalon. The people must have the chance to cast their vote in this election,” said Lester.
“I call on the Chief Electoral Office to find a solution to allow people in isolation to cast their votes in this election.”
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald today confirmed the amount of people isolating is “in the high hundreds” and risk losing their chance to vote on Election Day. Lester says that’s unacceptable.
“These people are doing their duty of following public health measures and keeping the rest of the population safe. How can their reward be to lose their right to vote on election day?” said Lester
