Statement from PC Leader Ches Crosbie (February 11, 2021)
"Delaying the election is the right thing to do. However, the election must be suspended for EVERY electoral district. Anything short of that is an affront to our democracy.”
Thursday, February 11, 2021

(February 11, 2021) – PC Leader Ches Crosbie issued the following statement this afternoon:

“Today’s decision of the Chief Electoral Officer to suspend voting in 18 districts creates two classes of voters, and is therefore wholly unfair. It does not allow for a level playing field in this election.

Simply put, some voters will have more time than others – and more access to information — to make their electoral decision. That is wrong and calls into question the integrity of the electoral process.

For instance, what happens if some voters get to read the Greene Report and others do not? How could we credibly call an election held under those circumstances fair?

Delaying the election is the right thing to do. However, the election must be suspended for EVERY electoral district.

Anything short of that is an affront to our democracy.”
