(March 11, 2021) – PC Leader Ches Crosbie issued the following statement on the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of COVID-19:

“Today, on the National Day of Observance for COVID-19, we pay tribute to the thousands of Canadians, and those right here in Newfoundland and Labrador, who have lost their lives to COVID-19. Our world has been turned upside down. It has caused tremendous stress and strain on frontline workers, those who have painstakingly put it all on the line to provide essential services.

It has ravaged our economy. Millions of people have lost their jobs and small businesses are scraping by, some of which have shut down.

It has stolen lives. It has changed our world forever.

Today, may we reflect on the year that was, and let us look forward with empathy and hope.

Empathy for one another, as we navigate the troubled waters that we currently find ourselves in.

Hope that together, we will learn from these trials and tribulations, so that we can defeat COVID -19, and secure a brighter future for Newfoundland and Labrador.

Hold fast. Take care of one another. Stay safe.”
