Voters have a clear choice in 2021 election: Liberal cuts or PC growth
“Andrew Furey has done everything he can to prevent the people of Newfoundland and Labrador from understanding the depth of the cuts he will bring to our province. He doesn’t understand that you can’t cut your way to prosperity,” said Crosbie.

(March 24, 2021) – PC Leader Ches Crosbie says voters have a choice in this election: to bring back jobs and growth or to give Andrew Furey’s Liberals a blank cheque to cut public services, jobs, and healthcare.

Throughout the election campaign, the PC Party has highlighted plans for job growth, tax relief, and attracting more people to Newfoundland and Labrador.

On the other hand, Andrew Furey called this election to keep the Greene report away from public eyes , so he could freely implement his agenda of cuts to public services, to rural Newfoundland and Labrador, and to the province’s healthcare system, says Crosbie.

“Andrew Furey has done everything he can to prevent the people of Newfoundland and Labrador from understanding the depth of the cuts he will bring to our province. He doesn’t understand that you can’t cut your way to prosperity,” said Crosbie.

“A PC government would prioritize growth over cuts to get our province back to work and ensure equitable access to public services, particularly our healthcare system,” said Crosbie. “We believe Newfoundland and Labrador can grow, thieve, and ultimately, be stronger than ever. The Liberals believe we must manage our decline. That’s the difference.”

Crosbie says Greene Report is, sadly, not the only example of Andrew Furey trying to keep the truth from the people of Newfoundland of Labrador.

Crosbie says that, on the eve of the election, the Clerk of the Executive Council is shielding more public information that could embarrass Andrew Furey.

In reply to a letter from the PC Party, the Clerk declined to use his own authority under legislation to reveal the “modelling” Furey used to call this reckless pandemic election, says Crosbie.

“Andrew Furey has never been transparent with the people of the province. He wanted to get ahead of the cut-heavy Greene report by calling the election when he did, and now he’s refusing to be transparent with the people of the province over what evidence – if any – he used to justify this election,” said Crosbie.

“Now is the time to put a stop to an agenda of cuts, to continued disregard of public transparency, and to continued Liberal corruption. Electing a PC government is the only way for the people of the province to end Andrew Furey’s disregard for their interests.”
