(April 6, 2021) – The Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador announces that it has received the resignation of Eugene Manning, the Party President. Mr. Manning served as party president from November 2019 until his resignation. Before that time, he served as Party VicePresident.

Mr. Manning indicated in his statement that he would find it difficult to remain neutral in the upcoming leadership convention, as he would like to play a role in the leadership contest.
"We would like to thank Mr. Manning for his years of service to the Progressive Conservative Party. We all have great deal of respect for him, and we wish him all the best at whatever he takes on next," said Rhonda McMeekin, the Party's Chief Communications Officer.

The Provincial Executive will meet next week and will begin the process of planning a leadership convention. Details will be made public in the weeks and months ahead.

Party Vice-President Matthew Janes will move into the role of Interim President.

"You can expect to keep hearing from us in the PC Party," said Janes. "With a weak majority, Premier Furey will be held to account by our mighty caucus, led by David Brazil. All of us in the Party will work hard to show what we have to offer this province. Stay tuned."
