PC Opposition Observes National Day of Mourning: Brazil, Forsey
David Brazil and Pleaman Forsey remember workers who have died, were injured, or developed a workplace-related illness
Wednesday, April 28, 2021

(April 28, 2021) – David Brazil, PC Opposition Leader and MHA for Conception Bay East-Bell Island, and Pleaman Forsey, MHA for Exploits and Shadow Critic for Workplace NL, honour and remember workers who have died, were injured, or developed a workplace-related illness.

“Today we bow our heads to remember those lost and send our sympathies to families torn apart by tragedies at the workplace. I offer sincere sympathy to those 35 families who lost loved ones over this last year,” said Brazil.

“But today is not only about remembering, it’s about making the commitment to workers to improve their health and safety on the job. It’s about taking care of the people and preventing workplace tragedies in the first place.”

The PC Opposition would like to especially honor the sacrifices of frontline and essential workers who have died or become sick during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Workplace health and safety has to be paramount, whether it’s at our hospitals, construction sites, or mines. Our people and our economy depend on it. Today we affirm that commitment to the workers of Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Forsey.

“Let us take today to remember those lives lost or forever changed by workplace tragedy.”
