Turning lane near Thorburn Lake would save lives: Parrott
“I call on Minister Loveless to listen to the concerns of the constituents in the area and get that turning lane installed before an accident happens.”
Friday, July 2, 2021

(July 2, 2021) – Lloyd Parrott, PC MHA for Terra Nova, says his constituents are at risk the longer they wait for a turning lane to be installed near Thorburn Lake and Lakeside Park.

“Construction is ongoing in the area, yet the Minister has been silent on whether a left turning lane into the area will be installed. A turning lane would help the flow of traffic and reduce the risk of accidents, yet government doesn’t appear to see this as a priority,” said Parrott.

“I call on Minister Loveless to listen to the concerns of the constituents in the area and get that turning lane installed before an accident happens.”

Parrott says petitions have been distributed by constituents expressing their concern with the situation, yet it appears another construction season will come and go without any action.

“Doing this work now would save money in the future. This turning lane is needed in the area, so better to install it while work is happening this year rather than tear up the road again in a future construction season. It makes sense, it improves public safety, and it saves money to install the turning lane now,” said Parrott.

“The Minister is ignoring the concerns of my constituents and of all those who travel the Trans Canada Highway.”
