(January 4, 2022) – Helen Conway Ottenheimer, MHA for Harbour Main, is encouraging everyone in Newfoundland and Labrador to keep their resolve in doing everything possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19 throughout our province.

“Monday’s COVID-19 media briefing included the suggestion everyone in our province will eventually get COVID-19. I worry the people of the province may feel disheartened by that statement as we enter the third year of this pandemic,” said Conway Ottenheimer.

“Everyone is feeling exhausted after making so many sacrifices to keep our province safe, there’s no question about it. But we must continue our efforts to stop the spread, keep our loved ones safe, and protect the healthcare system.”

Conway Ottenheimer says the Omicron variant presents an extraordinary challenge, which means we need to continue our extraordinary efforts to protect one another.

“With the new challenges of Omicron, anxiety and mental health concerns are heightened. Know this: you are not alone. There are supports available, whether it’s friends and family or the many other examples of supports. The CHANNAL warm line is a good example, with many other supports for those feeling extra stress right now,” said Conway Ottenheimer.

“I know it’s difficult, but these efforts will be worth it in the long-term. On behalf of myself and the PC Official Opposition Caucus, I encourage everyone to get their vaccinations, get their booster doses, and follow the public health orders in place to keep our province safe.”
