Liberal inaction has consequences for Newfoundland and Labrador: Brazil
Brazil is expressing his disappointment in the Liberal Government for not being proactive regarding the cost of living in this province or the future of our offshore industry.

(March 4, 2022) – David Brazil, PC Official Opposition Leader and MHA for Conception Bay East-Bell Island, is expressing his disappointment in the Liberal Government for not being proactive regarding the cost of living in this province or the future of our offshore industry.

“As Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador, I pride myself on listening to the people of the province. What I’m hearing today is that people are worried about how they will afford to live here, especially when job prospects on projects like Bay du Nord and West White Rose are uncertain,” said Brazil.

“The worry that these people are experiencing, is a direct result of the Liberal Government, and Premier Furey’s, inaction. The Liberal Government has not been proactive on either issue. They have not taken action to lower the cost of fuel. They have not ensured that Bay du Nord will proceed. They have not gotten West White Rose back to full construction.”

Brazil says the Liberals are ignoring the options before them, instead making the choice to sit by while the people of the province suffer under the crushing weight of the cost of living.

“The people of Newfoundland and Labrador deserve a Premier and a Government who takes proactive decisions, not reactive. If I were Premier, I would have lowered the gas price months ago. I would be pushing the Prime Minister to approve Bay du Nord,” said Brazil.

“I would be charting a path to prosperity for this province, not managing decline.”
