(September 9, 2022, St. John’s) – Pleaman Forsey, PC Official Opposition Shadow Minister of Forestry and Agrifoods and MHA for Exploits, says yet again the Liberal Government is ignoring the cost of living crisis by not working with farmers to reduce the price of milk in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Milk is a staple food and dramatic price increases puts more pressure on families already struggling to make ends meet as the cost of living continues to rise in Newfoundland and Labrador.” Said Forsey.

“In November, I raised this issue in the House of Assembly, after farmers raised concerns over the increased price of fuel and feed for livestock. The Minister dismissed those concerns at the time and has yet to address them. It is troubling that this Liberal government continues to ignore everyone’s concerns surrounding the price spike at the cash register.”

A PC Government would listen to the farmers, find ways to bring in alternative fertilizers or less expensive feed, would lower the cost of fuel, and find ways to reduce production costs for farmers.

“The Liberal government has options. Farmers are suggesting ways to help lower the cost of milk. But instead of working to help famers and consumers, the Liberals are content to ignore the problem,” said Forsey.
