Ball Government’s Thin 100-Day Report Highlights Lack of Action
Paul Davis, Leader of the Official Opposition, commented that the Ball Government’s 100-day report is incredibly thin – just 11 items. Five of those were attending meetings or events. The report notes ‘participating, introducing, chairing, releasing, launching, maintaining and supporting,’ and highlights the lack of leadership and action of the Liberal administration in the first 100 days in office.
The report claimed as accomplishments:
the annual fall fiscal update
the annual pre-budget consultations
end-of-year fiscal measures in the face of dropping oil revenue
freezing grants for community groups
another review of Muskrat Falls, and
a flawed bill for an independent appointments commission that isn’t independent and can’t appoint.
“It is concerning that the Ball administration has little to highlight in their 100 days in office. Where is the Liberal plan? Where is the action on the economic LEAP plan they promised to release last fall? Where is the lobbying of Ottawa for stabilization, equalization or other relief in the face of a massive oil revenue drop? Where is their action to deal with the deficit? Where are the signs that they are acting on the many other items they promised in their red book?” asked Davis.
