Plow Operators refusing to plow Marine Drive due to dangerous conditions: Wall
MHA Wall today spoke out again about the dangerous conditions of Marine Drive, Route 30-12 in the Town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.

(December 8, 2023, St. John’s):Joedy Wall, PC MHA for Cape St. Francis today spoke out again about the dangerous conditions of Marine Drive, Route 30-12 in the Town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.

Wall was responding to word that Government highway plow operators are refusing to plow the road, citing the dangerous erosion that has seen a significant portion of the road give way.

“This has been an issue since 2019. Thanks to pressure from the Municipality and residents, the Liberals finally put it in the 2020-2021 Provincial Roads Plan but nothing was done. It was re-announced in the 2023-2024 Provincial Roads Plan but nothing has been done again. The road has deteriorated to the point government equipment operators are refusing to travel over the road and the Department has been forced to hire a private contractor to plow and salt a portion of the road.”

“The Furey Liberals love to make announcements and have photo ops but unfortunately that seems to be where any progress ends. There has been nothing done with this road, despite Government being aware of these concerns for years. The only sign that government has done anything is the concrete barricades that line the scenic route. Now their own employees are afraid to drive on it. This is incredible.”

After 4 years, Wall said it is time for the Government to stop the announcements and get on with ensuring the road is safe for both employees and the general public.
