Liberal Words Too Little, Too Late to Stop Surf Clam Giveaway

Kevin Parsons, Fisheries Critic for the Official Opposition, says, “The Ball Liberals have said too little, too late to protest the federal decision to take a large chunk of the surf clam quota away from Newfoundland and Labrador plants for processing in Nova Scotia.”

“Why are the Liberals so ineffective in standing up for Newfoundland and Labrador jobs and communities? Why are the Liberals so incapable of fighting effectively for the principles of adjacency and historic attachment? Why did a Minister suggest the province already has a measure of joint fisheries management when Newfoundland and Labrador was ignored over this giveaway?” asked Parsons.

“Here we have yet another federal Liberal decision to take opportunities and jobs away from struggling Newfoundland and Labrador families and communities to give to another province, and once again, the Ball Liberal Cabinet and backbenchers are virtually powerless to protect the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians they’re supposed to be representing.”

“Liberal MHAs on the Burin Peninsula were saying and doing little while the federal Liberals were preparing to remove jobs from communities in their districts to send to Nova Scotia.”

“When will the Ball Liberals start speaking up loudly and clearly at the highest levels for Newfoundland and Labrador so we don't have to endure every decision the Trudeau Liberals in Ottawa decide to impose on us?” asked Parsons.
