St. John’s, NL (January 16, 2019) – Dave Brazil, Education Critic for the Official Opposition, said the Ball government clearly has no intention of listening to parents who are concerned and frustrated about government-imposed restrictions keeping their children off buses within 1.6 kilometres of schools - so the Opposition will do the listening that the government refuses to do.

"Already, many parents across the province have told us the government's busing restrictions have created a real safety concern for their families, but the Liberals have their minds made up and aren't interested in hearing what parents have to say," said Brazil. "We want to hear directly from even more parents in all regions of our province how this restrictive policy is affecting them."

“We've brought a series of petitions, questions and resolutions to the floor of the House of Assembly, only to have them shut down by successive Education Ministers and indeed every member of the Ball government caucus, which voted in unison against the solutions we proposed.”

“In the days and weeks ahead, we will be announcing opportunities for parents to be heard loud and clear on this important child safety matter,” he said. "We encourage people to contact us by phone, mail, email or social media to tell us their experiences so we can drive this issue until it's properly addressed."
