St. John’s, NL (July 11, 2019) – PC Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie is honouring the memory of retired Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Chief Robert P. Johnston, who passed away on July 8.
"In a steady progression of roles within the RNC beginning in 1979 and as Chief of the force from 2010 to 2014, Bob Johnston earned the enduring respect and appreciation of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador for his exemplary service with one of our country's great police forces.”
“The outpouring of grief and accolades since his passing is a sign of the tremendous esteem in which he has been held in our province and far beyond."
"Chief Johnston wore the uniform of the RNC with pride, served our province with distinction, and truly exemplified the RNC motto 'safer communities through policing excellence'.”
“On behalf of the Official Opposition Caucus in the House of Assembly, I express our deepest condolences to his wife Gloria and their entire family, and also to the many members and supporters of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, who are stronger today because of the service that he gave.”
