For Immediate Release

St. John’s, NL (January 3, 2020) – PC leader Ches Crosbie is paying tribute to the late Tom Hickey, a former PC member of the House of Assembly and cabinet minister under Premiers Brian Peckford and Frank Moores.

He was elected six times in the district of St. John's East Extern, and held cabinet responsibilities for social services, provincial affairs, environment, transportation, communication, tourism, rehabilitation, recreation and housing.

Crosbie said, "It is honourable to serve the people in the House of Assembly and to shoulder responsibilities in cabinet, and Tom Hickey did both with dignity over the course of two decades from 1966 to 1985. He was one of the members who was part of the change in administration from Liberal to PC in the early seventies, and he retained a lifelong interest in the political affairs of our province. To his family and friends on behalf of our party, I extend our sincere sympathies as we mark his passing."
