St. John’s, NL (April 14, 2020) – ‎Official Opposition leader Ches Crosbie says ‎that the government should outline plans to address and protect Newfoundland and Labrador's supply chain including food, essential goods, and medical supplies.

As recently reported, a major shipper for large grocery stores claims that it is losing $2 million a week due to the pandemic and that they will be reducing the number of runs between Montreal and St. John’s.

The Premier has indicated that the province only has a five-day supply of food on hand.

"We are encouraging government to explore all options available to them to reassure the public that our supply chain is secured. Ottawa and the provincial government must step in to help secure Newfoundland and Labrador's shipment of food and essential medical supplies during this pandemic," said Crosbie.

The Official Opposition is urging both levels of government to step up for our province to ensure a steady flow of essential goods.
