St. John’s, NL (May 4, 2020) – Today, Pleaman Forsey, PC MHA for Exploits, said the lack of investment by the Liberal government in his district is unacceptable.

“The release of the 2020 road construction list was very disappointing for the residents of the district of Exploits as it contained zero planned roadwork for the area. I had meetings with the minister last fall to discuss problem areas that required work, such as ditching and capping, that would reduce costs in the future,” noted Forsey.

“Since the release of the 2020 road work list I have requested a meeting with Minister Crocker, however, this request has not been granted.”

In 2016, the newly elected Liberal government decided to cut the 24 hour emergency service at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre in Botwood. During the 2019 general election, Premier Ball promised the people of Botwood that this service would be restored – this has not occurred.

“The decision to cut the 24 hour emergency service in Botwood forces residents and ambulance services to travel over roads that can be dangerous, particularly at night. I am extremely disappointed that this government has decided to put people’s lives at risk by not restoring this service, or at the very least, perform the required roadwork to ensure that people can travel safely for emergency services,” says Forsey.
