For Immediate Release

St. John’s, NL (May 27, 2020) –PC Official Opposition Leader and MHA for Windsor Lake, Ches Crosbie, today expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fisherman lost in St. Lawrence.

“For over 500 years we have taken from the sea. On Monday, the sea took back. This is an unspeakable tragedy for a community that has seen its share of loss and a personal pain for families one cannot begin to comprehend.”

“On behalf of my Caucus and the PC Party, I offer our collective thoughts and prayers for the community of St. Lawrence and the families affected. I have spoken to Mayor Paul Pike to offer our support but was shocked to learn the Canadian Coast Guard has discontinued the search for the fourth victim.”

“The Community is rightly outraged. Today, the weather in the area is good and it is absolutely critical for the search to continue while this window exists. Families need to grieve and have closure.”
