St. John’s, NL (June 30, 2020) – Craig Pardy, PC MHA for Bonavista and Official Opposition Critic for Education and Early Childhood Development, today called upon the Government to finally release the plan for K-12 education in September.

“The Minister promised a plan would be out by the end of June. The calendar is turning to July tomorrow and there is still no update. After some 100 days waiting, this is completely unacceptable,” said Pardy.

The Newfoundland and Labrador English Schools District has indicated publicly that they have various scenarios developed for September, but are waiting on answers from the Department of Education.

“Parents and teachers have been patient long enough. Teachers including substitutes need to make plans, parents may need to arrange transportation and childcare, while parents of students with exceptionalities are even more anxious and concerned,” said Pardy.

“It is time for Minister Warr to break his silence on this issue and update the province,” added Pardy.
