St. John’s, NL (July 10, 2020) – Craig Pardy, MHA for Bonavista, and Lloyd Parrott, critic for Tourism, Culture, Industry, and Innovation and MHA for Terra Nova, are offering congratulations to the Discovery Geopark committee on their impressive work to obtain UNESCO designation which spans the area between Trinity and Bonavista.
Pardy says, “This is a huge win for the area and for the province. We commend the committee for their hard work which started almost 15 years ago. The province owes a debt of gratitude to the men and women that have volunteered their time for this initiative.”
The recognition of this heritage area follows the UNESCO designation at Mistaken Point in 2016.
Parrott says, “Our province has world class heritage sites and it is incredibly important that we preserve them. This designation will ensure that generations to come can celebrate, protect, and learn how special Newfoundland and Labrador truly is.
