St. John’s, NL (July 21, 2020) – PC Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie and Natural Resource Critic David Brazil are demanding the truth behind the Liberal failure to obtain real support for our offshore industry.

“Our oil industry has been lobbying for real tangible support from the Federal government for months. Support is long overdue. Our offshore oil industry is losing millions of dollars in investment while the Liberals stand idly by,“ said Crosbie.

“We have a situation where the Liberals have either decided not to support our industry or they are waiting until after the coronation of a new provincial Liberal leader to allow him to gain credit for such support. It is unacceptable that the Liberals could be playing politics with our offshore oil industry, while the industry loses millions of dollars in investment,” said Crosbie.

Brazil also expressed his disappointment with the Liberals.

“The offshore oil industry is the economic engine of our province. Over twenty thousand direct and indirect jobs in this province depend on it. When our oil industry is strong, all of our communities benefit. It is unacceptable that the Liberals are putting these jobs at risk and are watching investment leave the province,” said Brazil.
