St. John's, NL (August 20, 2020) – Ches Crosbie, PC Opposition Leader and MHA for Windsor Lake, says that Education Minister Tom Osbourne is out of step with Premier Furey in announcing the formation of an all-party committee on the chaos in the school system.
“I met with Premier Furey today and he told me that he would not announce an all-party committee without discussing it with me. In saying the PCs agree to form an all-party committee, Minister Osbourne jumped before he looked and exceeded his authority from the Premier” said Crosbie.
“The more urgent issue is for the Liberal government to find a solution for the busing crisis which has left 6,000 children without a way to get to school and other pressing issues which worry parents, teachers and students” added Crosbie.
Craig Pardy, PC Education Critic and MHA for Bonavista, says that in conversation this morning, Minister Osbourne did not mention the words all-party committee, but he is ready to give his insight as an educator to the Minister at any time.
