Paul Davis Says Liberals Have No Plan,

and 2017 is Too Late to Wait for One

Paul Davis, Leader of the Official Opposition, said, “Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are learning today that the Liberals under Premier Ball have no plan to address the fiscal and economic challenges they face, and don’t expect to have one until 2017, too late for the Budget they’re expected to deliver in the spring.”

“Premier Ball’s budget consultation process will extend, not just through the winter and spring, but also through the summer and fall of 2016 and the spring of 2017. The province cannot afford to wait until 2017 to develop a long-range plan when the province is facing challenges right now which require action immediately,” said Davis.

“When they took a hard look at the long-range approach our government took in Budget 2015, the bond-rating agencies were confident enough to maintain our province’s credit rating. How can the bond-rating agencies have confidence that the Ball Government has a firm grip on the fiscal challenges our province is facing in 2016 when the Premier does not expect to have a long-term plan in place for more than a year?”

“The Liberals told Newfoundlanders and Labradorians they were ready to govern, and it is shocking to hear they are not,” said Davis.
