For Immediate Release
St. John's, NL (September 10, 2020) – PC Leader and MHA for Windsor Lake, Ches Crosbie, has released the PC Action Plan to create jobs and encourage growth in the offshore oil industry amidst revelations today that Husky Energy is evaluating its future in Newfoundland and Labrador. The impact of this company leaving would send shockwaves throughout the industry.
“While other governments have invested strategically in their offshore industries, Liberals here have talked to Liberals in Ottawa and have done nothing. The PC Opposition together with industry and stakeholders have been calling for support from the federal government since the pandemic hit, but federal Liberals are hostile to the offshore and therefore hostile to the province,” said Crosbie
Today, Crosbie released the PC Party plan for jobs and growth for our offshore.
“The offshore industry has no champion in Ottawa and the country. A PC government under my leadership would be that champion and take immediate action to get Newfoundlanders and Labradorians back to work, including on the West White Rose and Terra Nova FPSO. We would stimulate exploration, support production, and move forward on the Bay du Nord project,” said Crosbie.
Crosbie concluded, “This is why we are releasing our action plan today. All my life I’ve fought for fair treatment for people. I’m now fighting for jobs and the future of the very industry my father helped to establish.”
