For Immediate Release

St. John's, NL (September 11, 2020) – Barry Petten, PC Opposition critic for Transportation and Works and MHA for Conception Bay South, is calling on the provincial Liberal government to release all documentation relating to how the successful proponent was chosen for the new mental health facility before financial close.

“This Liberal government has had a terrible track record with awarding tenders and favoring their friends. To ensure that we are indeed getting the best value for the people of our province it is incumbent on this government to release the necessary documentation,” says Petten.

Financial close for the winning bid will likely occur in the coming weeks.

“If we need to delay financial close for the winning bid by a few weeks to ensure this was done right, what is the harm? Why is the Liberal government hiding these details from the public? Let’s give everyone reassurance that this is the best course of action. Release the documents and release them now,” says Petten.
