St. John's, NL (October 15, 2020) – Pleaman Forsey, MHA for Exploits, is calling for answers relating to the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre in Botwood and Lab Services in Grand Falls-Windsor.

“Minister Haggie has been asked on multiple occasions when the 2019 Liberal campaign promise of restoring 24 hour emergency care at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre will be fulfilled. However, the people of the area continue to get evasive answers from the Minister,” says Forsey.

Restoring 24 hour emergency care at the facility was a key campaign promise in the Central region of the province during the last general election by then Premier Dwight Ball.

“It appears the Liberals are planning on breaking yet another campaign promise to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Minister says he plans on evaluating the situation in the future and dodges any mention of the former Premiers election promise. If this Liberal government is going to go back on their word, they should have the courage and decency to say so,” says Forsey.

Forsey added, “In addition to our Health Care Centre, the Minister plans on stripping lab services from Grand Falls-Windsor and have the main testing hub in Gander. When the Minister was pressed on this issue, he said that he would not apologize. We aren’t looking for apologies, we are looking for answers.”
