Office of the Official Opposition
For Immediate Release

St. John's, NL (November 22, 2020) – Ches Crosbie, Leader of the PC Official Opposition and MHA for Windsor Lake, today released the following statement:

“With an increase of spread of COVID-19 through our province as the rest of Canada battles a surge across the country, I ask our provincial government to consider the following measures to protect the safety and the livelihood of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians,” says Crosbie.

· Immediately implement point of entry testing as an added level of screening. It provides all travelers with an additional layer of safety and security for their families and communities in the fight against COVID-19;

· Immediately tighten essential worker exemptions, by requiring proof that the job cannot be filled by local workers, to reduce the risk of spread;

· Immediately reassess the safety of our continued participation in the ‘Atlantic Bubble’, due to community spread observed in Nova Scotia.

“Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have made many personal sacrifices in the face of COVID-19. Government must take swift action as we stare down a second wave of this pandemic,” says Crosbie.
