St. John's, NL (December 17, 2020) – PC Official Opposition Shadow Minister for Industry, Energy, and Innovation and MHA for Conception Bay South, Barry Petten, is disappointed with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Premier Andrew Furey, and both Liberal Governments, for failing to put Newfoundlanders and Labradorians first in today’s re-announcement.

“What we heard today was a re-announcement of this Liberal government’s February announcement with no commitment on how much people will pay for electricity. Premier Furey has failed to put the residents of this province first,” said Petten.

Petten continued: “There is nothing concrete in this announcement. The temporary debt relief announced is in fact temporary. With no details on how or when it will be required to be paid back.”

“The people of this province are concerned about how much they will have to pay for electricity rates. This Liberal government has been working on this file for 5 years with little progress, we need a government which will put Newfoundlanders and Labradorians first,” concluded Petten.
