Wakeham Releases Platform Highlights: Better Healthcare, Lower Taxes, and Safer Communities for All of Us
September 19, 2025
Grand Falls-Windsor, NL – Today, Tony Wakeham, Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador unveiled the highlights of his campaign platform, For All of Us, built on three clear priorities: Better Healthcare, Lower Taxes, and Safer Communities. Wakeham was joined for the announcement by local candidates Chris Tibbs and Pleaman Forsey.
"Real leadership is not about the problems you ignore - it's about the problems you fix," said Wakeham.
"For 10 years, the Liberals have had total control of government. Health care is worse, life has become more expensive, and crime is rising. Our plan tackles the issues the Liberals would rather avoid."
While in Grand Falls-Windsor, Wakeham emphasized how his plan will deliver for central Newfoundland, including:
- A new MRI machine for the region.
- Reopening the Emergency Department at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre in Botwood, 24 hours a day - a promise the Liberals have twice made and twice broken.
- Operational funding to support the Lionel Kelland Hospice.
- Funding for volunteer fire departments who respond to medical calls.
"Chris Tibbs and Pleaman Forsey have been strong representatives for this area," Wakeham added. "They fought for a new MRI machine, for reopening the Botwood ER, and for securing support for the Lionel Kelland Hospice. I am confident they will continue to deliver better healthcare, lower taxes, and safer communities for all of us."
Wakeham called on voters to turn the page on a decade of Liberal mismanagement. "Newfoundlanders and Labradorians deserve a government that is here for all of us, not just for themselves," he said. "That's what our plan delivers."
The highlights released today will be followed later in the campaign by a fully costed platform.
