(St. John’s, October 24, 2024) — Tony Wakeham, MHA for Stephenville-Port au Port and Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party, today announced that a Wakeham Government would make it easier and less expensive to operate a business in Newfoundland and Labrador.
“The business community is the backbone of our provincial economy, driving innovation, job creation, and community growth. However, local businesses are struggling under rising operational costs and endless red tape that have surged during the Liberals’ tenure,” said Wakeham.
To alleviate this burden, a Progressive Conservative government led by Tony Wakeham will focus on empowering local businesses. A Wakeham Government will take a number of actions, including:
“Business owners have expressed a clear need for tax relief and red tape reduction,” added Wakeham. “Tax relief would allow them to reinvest in their operations, hire more staff, and develop new products. Red tape reduction will make it easier to start and grow a business.”
“Instead of leading the country in red tape, I want to lead the country in red tape reduction. I want to cultivate a strong and prosperous business community focused on long term growth,” concluded Wakeham.
A Wakeham Government is committed to securing a better future for businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador. Better starts now.
