Born in Placentia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Tony Wakeham's passion for his province and its people runs deep. With a background in business and a commitment to public service, he has dedicated his career to driving positive change and growth in his community.
First and foremost, Tony and his wife Patricia are proud to call Kippens their home. They enjoy spending time with their two adult children, Stephanie and Christopher, along with their grandchildren, Nico, Henry, and Emma.
After an extensive career working for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador through senior positions province-wide in health care, finance, and the Office of the Auditor General, Tony was elected to serve the people of Stephenville – Port au Port as their MHA on May 16, 2019.
In 2023, Tony was elected Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador. His leadership style is characterized by a rare blend of compassion, integrity, and determination, qualities that have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and constituents alike. As Leader, Wakeham is committed to building a brighter future for the province, focusing on improving access to healthcare, economic development, job creation, and making life more affordable. He understands the importance of investing in infrastructure, healthcare, and education to ensure that Newfoundland and Labrador remains a vibrant and prosperous place to live and work.
