Lower Taxes for Small Businesses means Lower Taxes for All of Us

(Corner Brook, NL) – Progressive Conservative Leader Tony Wakeham today announced a key part of his party’s platform, which includes a small business tax reduction and targeted support for regional economic development across Newfoundland and Labrador. Wakeham was joined by Charles Pender, PC Candidate for Corner Brook.

“Charles Pender has a long history of community service,” said Wakeham. “I am proud to have him on my team. He will help provide better healthcare, lower taxes, and safer communities for all of us.”

Wakeham committed that a PC government will lower the provincial Small Business Tax Rate to 1% – a 60% reduction in the current tax burden.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities – whether it’s a bakery, a restaurant, an auto repair shop, a brewery, or a craft business,” said Wakeham. “Every dollar we save small businesses in taxes is a dollar they can put back into growing, expanding, and hiring more workers right here at home.”

In addition to tax relief, Wakeham unveiled a plan to strengthen local economies through regional economic development and a pro-business approach focused on red tape reduction.

“For five years in a row – the Canadian Federation of Independent Business has given this Liberal Government an ‘F’ Grade in their red tape report card,” said Wakeham. “I will lead where the Liberals have failed. We will initiate an aggressive red-tape reduction process – any and every rule and regulation will need to be clearly justified – or it will go.”

Together, with candidates like Charles, we will provide better healthcare, lower taxes, and safer communities, for all of us”
