Statement from Riley Balsom, Progressive Conservative Candidate for Carbonear – Trinity – Bay de Verde

Carbonear, NL – Riley Balsom, Progressive Conservative Candidate for Carbonear – Trinity – Bay de Verde, has issued the following statement calling for immediate relief for those impacted by the Conception Bay North fires:

“The recent fires in the Conception Bay North area have caused unimaginable loss for families, individuals, and entire communities. My heart is with every person impacted by this devastation.

Now is the time for action. Communities need to be rebuilt. Homes and businesses need to be rebuilt. People’s lives need to be rebuilt.

I am calling on the Liberal government to immediately put in place a meaningful support package to help people. This must include:

• Direct financial support for those whose homes have been damaged or destroyed, including assistance to restore critical infrastructure such as clean drinking water and compensation for lost vehicles and equipment.
• A comprehensive plan to rebuild communities, ensuring that homes, businesses, and vital recreation and community spaces are restored in a way that truly supports the needs of residents.
• Access to mental and physical health supports to help individuals and families cope with the trauma and challenges they now face.

The people of this region have shown incredible strength, but they should not have to face this alone. It’s time for leadership and meaningful action to ensure the residents of Conception Bay North can rebuild, recover, and thrive again. We will be there to support them every step of the way.”
